When planting a small garden, try to disguise boundaries which will make the garden look bigger. Incorporate focal points which will guide the visitor's eye through the garden. Think of seasonal colour and form and select plants which will provide interest throughout the year.
Choose plants which are suited for your locality. Plants which are native to your local conditions of weather and soil types will do better and be more resistant to local pests and disease than 'exotics' which are imported from abroad.
