At this time of year, try to collect as many fallen leaves as possible to make leaf mulch... Also, if you have room, leave a pile in your garden uncovered to break down naturally for wildlife to shelter in over winter... leaf mulch is gold dust for gardeners...
If you don't have the room to make proper compost area, leaves can be put in black bin bags with (holes pierced in the bottom to allow drainage). The leaves will break down and should provide some great organic matter for mulching.
