Generally the only pruning required is to remove dead leaves as they occur. Pruning is normally only carried out if frost damage has occured or if a multi-stemmed or bushy habit is required.
In the case of frost damage cut back to just above new growth once it appears, apply a feed and mulch.
For multi stems, take out the growing tip before Spring growth and again feed and mulch.

as a newcomer to gardening,ineed all the advice i can get, so thanks. i do like the cordyline,but that growing tip does look odd. IS it too late to cut it off.
