Please help Phil by donating what you can as he raises money for the following charity...
Perennial - Gardeners' Royal Benevolent Society is the UK's only charity dedicated to helping horticulturists in need. Its nationwide team of caseworkers provides advice to those who are working in, or retired from the industry, helping them to overcome problems related to ill-health or disability, low income, poor housing or running a small business. It also provides retirement homes and regular grants.

Many of you will know that I am on a mission to raise money for gardeners in need via a 1,250 mile mowerthon (https://twitter.com/mowerthon), whereby I will be driving an ordinary (some say extraordinary) Etesia lawn mower from my home here in France right up to the tip of Scotland, finishing in John O'Groats. I hope to achieve this in under 14 days. The project was launched (http://www.landscapejuice.com/2012/07/raising-money-for-perennial-through-a-1250-mile-mowerthon.html) at the Hampton Court flower show in early July and so far we've managed to raise £1, 067.00 from 25 donations. Money raised is in aid of Perennial (http://www.perennial.org.uk/), whose work is to assist anyone who has worked in, or who has retired from working in, horticulture who may have gotten into financial difficulty or landed on hard times or who has fallen ill.
Already on our way...but we need more
I'm extremely grateful to those who have donated thus far but I have set an ambitious target of £10,000 so I need to raise much more. Now we are in the holiday period the fund raising has become much tougher. If just 1,000 LJN members donated £10.00 we'd smash the £10,000 target easily. I am scheduled to leave at the beginning of October so time is running out. Please dig deep and donate what you can.

Donations can be made by either:
Adding an amount of your choice on Just Giving (https://www.justgiving.com/mowerthon) or texting a ten pound donation to: 70070 HORT47 £10 (add the words to the left exactly as they are shown, including spaces - premium texting has to be enabled on your phone).
Hardship doesn't always happen to others
The Landscape Juice Network is all about helping all professional gardeners and landscapers.Through my day-to-day work I've spoken to many distressed people in the landscaping and gardening industry who are just managing to keep their head above water. Tragically, as the economy continues to tighten its grip, I am seeing evidence of many more getting into difficulty.
Suicide
It is often considered a taboo to ask someone for help so many suffer in silence. Distressingly, one Landscape Juice Network member - someone on the face of it seen by many as being highly successful - took their own life last year. I only came to hear of this tragic news some time afterwards but I felt pain when I thought that this person was suffering, for whatever reason, and potentially had no one to turn to for help. If Landscape Juice can help prevent another suicide, help someone sort out their finances or help a gardener in times of mental illness or other sickness then I will be more than pleased.
Please help me achieve my goal!
I hope you are able to support me in supporting gardeners and landscapers in need...
